Coyote Attack

Be aware!  We are all warned from time to time about the dangers of living so close to abundant Open Space, as far the presence of coyotes, mountain lions, etc. goes. This was made very clear to us on New Year's Eve, as a coyote jumped over a 5-foot picket fence, severely bit one of our dogs, and killed another.  He was able to clear the fence carrying the dead Havanese.  The area was brightly lit and we were clearly visible less than 15 feet away, so it was a rather brazen act.  A Lakewood Animal Control officer came out the New Years Day, and verified that it was a coyote, as well as advising us about what to do with our injured dog, and what to do to possibly prevent further such attacks.
