GMCA Christmas Holiday Lights - Lighting Up and Looking Good on the Mountain for the 2009 Christmas Holiday Season

Our review of all the Bright Lights and Decorations on Green Mountain for the Christmas Holidays was a great way to spent several nights and turned up a mystery. A lighted tree several hundred yards up the East side of Green Mountain, above W Exposition Drive between S. Fig Way and S. Gardenia St. Was the tree decorated by elves? How or where was the power obtained to light the lights?

Our selections for Best Holiday Light Display this year are our way of saying THANK YOU for your displays that truly light up our mountain side, and to encourage you to continue to decorate. We tried to pick some new winners (we think) this year to encourage and reward all who decorate each year. Some of you do set the standard, and have won several times. It was difficult to choose from so many outstanding displays in our neighborhood. Here are our Holiday Light selections for 2009.

FIRST was 645 South Eldridge St. AMAZING! Tons of lights. Lights and holiday figures lined both sides of the long driveway, and everywhere in their yard were decorations and even gaily wrapped presents to see. The entire house was trimmed with Christmas Lights! And every window had a lighted holiday scene.

SECOND was 13452 W Dakota Ave. Large lighted merry-go-round was a sight to see and there were lots of lights circling all their trees with a large herd of lighted deer in the yard.

THIRD was 14234 West Exposition Drive. A yard and house covered with bright lights with even their garage door decorated to look like an enormous wrapped present. You could see the house from Cedar, before turning left on to Alkire.

AND MORE.... 446 South Fig Way. Strings of Lights with garland and wreaths on all the fences, more lights on all the trim and in the all the windows, and a great nativity scene; 14387 West Exposition Drive: A corner house with both the front and sides all decorated and lit up with a great row of candy canes out front; 14022 West Exposition Place always one of the best displays and past First Place, and this year they have added a wall on the side with rows of candy canes—a real must see for the Holidays; 468 Alkire is another past winner and their display seems even brighter this year, with a large herd of lighted deer and even a moose; 422 Alkire is our Green Winner this year, most of the decorations appear hand made with a field of candy cane lollipops.
