ADOPT A FAMILY - CHRISTMAS 2009
Green Mountainside Civic Association members and friends did a wonderful and worthwhile thing to provide spirit, toys, clothes and other essentials plus food to families in our community that otherwise faced a very bleak Christmas.
GMCA was fortunate to have as “partners” our friends at Green Mountain United Methodist Church and Foothills Elementary School (Stefani Jones and staff), plus the Belmar Optimists Club and our neighborhood Front Range Bank. Alison Olis coordinated “family” information with Foothills Elementary and Lee Flower set up the “Gifting Tree” at the Front Range Bank. In all we “touched” 10 families with 24 children. Each received gifts according to identified needs. Each family also received a grocery store gift certificate and cash card.
In addition to the $500 budgeted by GMCA we received cash donations from the following:
Lois & “Charles Wakefield Tina Atchley & Steve Schulte
Robyn Wood Kathy White
Heather Cunz Jennifer Corvalan
Barry Wood Jenny & Mike Wood
Adam Paul & GMHS Friends
Diane and Ed Rhodus Melissa and Luca Martini
The following contributed, bought and wrapped gifts and adopted families outright:
The Bradburn family The Fulton family
The Bowen family The Coday family Kathy Giess & Craig Kosal
I wish you could have seen the brightening of smiles on the children and felt the emotion of tears from the parents when we delivered the presents to the families. It made me proud to be a member of a Green Mountain Community that cares. You should be too. Thank you for thinking of others who are unfortunately disadvantaged and for reinforcing our sense of a caring Green Mountainside Community.
