"A group of Green Mountain Cub Scouts from Pack 613 has been conducting
an ongoing community service project cleaning up trash in the Green
Mountain Open Space. They have been focusing on the area to the West of
the intersection of Cedar and Alkire and North of Dakota Avenue.
"So far in two outings the boys have collected 8 full trash bags along
with numerous "oversized" items including tires, plastic flower pots and
even an entire yard swing! Trash re-accumulates quickly right at the
intersection, but the effect of the cleanup effort is quite visible
further into the open space. They will continue to work on this effort
every month or two (weather permitting!) for at least the next year.
"These Webelos Scouts are 4th Graders at Foothills Elementary and
Hutchinson Elementary. If you see them out there working, please thank
them for their service to the community."
