GMCA BOARD MEETING
Green Mountain United Methodist Church
November 11th, 2010
Board Attendees: Those whose terms continued into the new fiscal year, and were present were: Diane Rhodus, Bill Hunter, Dick Burkholder, Ken Bowen. Those whose terms were renewed for the new fiscal year, and were present were: Warren Howard, Charlotte Worster, Carl Worster. Those new to the Board, and present were Allison Olis, Larry Carlson. Guest Ted Heyd, new to the community, was present.
The meeting was called to order by President Pro Tem Diane at 7:05 pm.
Officer elections were: President: Diane; Vice President: Carl; Treasurer: Larry; Secretary: Warren.
Treasurer’s report. Larry presented various documents relating to GMCA’s financial status, but a vote on his report was held in abeyance until after the audit for fiscal year 2009-2010 has been completed.
Minutes of the October 3rd meeting were presented by Bill hunter. They were approved.
OLD BUSINESS
The Fall Cleanup, and annual meeting in October were discussed briefly.
NEW BUSINESS
Santa Visit, Foothills: 12:00 noon, 17 December. Warren will be Santa, and Lee, Bill, Ken, and Allison will help him interact with the school kids.
Adopt-a-Family: Two families will be helped this year. Diane and Allison will select and deliver the items involved.
Holiday Light Contest: Warren, Adam Paul, Larry, Carl and Diane will do this.
Welcome Wagon: Larry will learn of new arrivals to the Green Mountain Estates neighborhood, and will send welcome letters to those involved. Diane will take packets to each of the new-neighbor households. Carl will assist as needed.
Newsletter. Charlotte will prepare the newsletter, based upon articles sent to her by Board members or other folks. A dues notice and return envelope will be provided, and Diane will contact POST NET to have the newsletter printed.
Green Mountain High School Scholarship. The Board voted to provide a $1,000 scholarship to a boy or girl who lives within the boundaries of GMCA. Diane will be the contact to the school on this issue.
Community Gardening. This subject will be discussed at the Lakewood Links Recreation Center, located near Mississippi and Wadsworth, at 6:00 p.m., 17 November.
Thank-you letters will be sent to Janice Bradburn and Melissa Martini for the many hours they spent on behalf of GMCA as Board President and Treasurer respectively.
Foothills Elementary Landscaping Project. The Board voted to donate $500 to the school to help improve its landscaping. The Board wishes that it be applied specifically to repairing the sprinkler system. Members were asked to volunteer their help with the improvements as they are able.
Contingency Fund. The Board voted to establish a contingency fund of $10,000
to accommodate unforeseen expenditures that might occur, as they have in the past – in sizeable amounts. GMCA funds apart from the contingency fund will be budgeted appropriately.
