Forming Neighborhood Watch

Steps to form a Neighborhood Watch block:

Thank you for your interest in forming a Neighborhood Watch block.

1.        Complete the form Neighborhood Watch, Neighborhood Registration Form with the Names, Addresses, Zip, and Telephone of at least 70% of the people on your block, both sides of the street.  Return the form to the Crime Prevention Office.  As the form indicates, to obtain Neighborhood Watch signs, please provide a map of the area with locations for signs marked.

In the packets of materials we are leaving with you, there will not be enough of anything for all of your block neighbors, but this is a sampling of the kind of materials you will be able to pick up at the three meetings held at the Lakewood Police Department during the year.  Use your discretion in leaving materials with neighbors – perhaps certain information would be more important to some in helping them decide to be part of the Neighborhood Watch community.

2.        There are three very informative meetings a year which you will be invited to attend.  The next meeting at the Lakewood Police Department will be in the spring.  Once you turn in your Neighborhood Registration Form including your name as block captain, you will receive postcards informing you of the meetings.  If you are unable to attend a meeting, ask someone from your block to go in your place.

3.        Typically there are three newsletters a year to distribute to your block.  There are a few Neighborhood Watch newsletters in your packet that we picked up at the last Block Captain meeting.  When you turn in your list, there may be some still available on the first floor of the police department, to the left of the main entrance.  Otherwise, you will be notified when the next newsletters are available in the spring.

Good luck getting your block to be a Neighborhood Watch block!  If you have questions, please email us, Carl and Charlotte Worster, or call 303-986-3605.
