We will have the following two services at the cleanup:
1. Two (2) dumpsters (30 yard). The cleanup will end at 11:00 AM or when the two dumpsters are full. The dumpsters will be used to collect yard trash, construction materials and tree/bush trimmings. No hazardous materials like tires, TVs, computers or other electronics, paint or chemicals can be accepted.
2. Metal recycling. All forms of metal will be accepted like window frames, patio furniture, lawn mowers, auto parts, barbeques or other metal items. If an item cannot be recycled, it will be placed into a dumpster.
What we will NOT have:
1. Document Shredding (The company will no longer provide a truck and Federally Certified employee).
2. Hazardous Materials collection.
3. Wood Chipper
Location and time:
Green Mountain United Methodist Church on W Cedar Drive
8:00 AM to 11:00 AM (or until the dumpsters are full). Please do not arrive before 8:00 AM.
Who can utilize the cleanup services:
Any resident of the GMCA area who resides within the boundaries of Alkire Street from Cedar Drive to Alameda Blvd and the housing area west of Alkire. Residence will be verified at check-in. We hope you will take this opportunity to make sure your voluntary 2013 annual donation of $25.00 is in. We are accepting 2014 donations. If more than one load is desposited, an additional donation would be nice. See the following note.
Note: The Spring and Fall cleanups are funded from your residential donations. Each dumpster costs GMCA more than $300 each. GMCA provides this service as a way of helping residents get rid of stuff that would need to go to a landfill including anything from failed garage sale items to yard waste. We are constantly working to help residents of our neighborhood keep their yards looking nice in order to maintain and increase our property values.
Compare the cleanup days to a trip to the Foothills Landfill above Golden. 35 miles round trip, $45 to $60 fee, rent a yellow vest for a buck, and your load must be covered and secure to avoid a $250 to $1,000 fine (regularly policed). Sure puts GMCA cleanup in perspective.
Volunteers are Needed:
GMCA is an all-volunteer organization working to promote community spirit and community welfare. Please volunteer to help with this or other GMCA activities, even if you don't need to use the service. Contact any board member or just show up!
