Bears

Bears in Green Mountain Estates?  Yep.  There were multiple reports of bear sighting on October 1, 2014.  This one was even spotted crossing Alameda east of Union!  Take care.

"I was on my way to work around 630pm and I saw the black bear cross Alameda just east of Union. It was so bizarre to see a bear. Many cars were stopping to take a look."  10-1-2014

And From the City ...

Be bear aware

During the night on Oct. 1, a black bear was sighted around the Green Mountain area. During the fall, bears need calories to gain enough weight to survive the winter and can move in to residential areas in search of food. To prevent human-bear conflicts, please follow these tips:

--Don’t feed bears.
--Don’t leave food or trash outside.
--Don’t feed birds during months when bears are active in your area.
--Put pets and their food inside at night.

Visit www.wildlife.state.co.us/bears for more tips on preventing conflicts and using deterrents to teach bears to stay away.
