November 11, Update
Finishing Community Garden at Foothills Elementary
We were not able to get all our plots filled with compost at our last work day for the garden. I need your help again to get this accomplished. Can you please come help this Saturday, December 2, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. We need to put compost in the six school plots, it should not take more than two hours. Nessa from Denver Urban Gardens will have all the equipment we need to
get this finished.
Thank you again to everyone who has volunteered your time to help make this happen for our community!
Sincerely,
Diane Rhodus

Letter from Diane
I am pleased to inform you that our grant application for the community garden at Foothills Elementary School was approved by the Lakewood City Council for funding in 2017 in the amount of $40.000.00!
We are so excited as a community and school to receive this grant. We will be working with Denver Urban Gardens. They have developed a wonderful design site plan that we will follow through this process.
This is something I have never done so I will need everyone's help in making this successful. Your input is very important.
I will keep you informed of our upcoming meeting for anyone who is interested in being part of our community garden. If you have any questions or concerns please email me at [email protected] or call me at 303-986-9400.

The idea of a community garden has long been a concept that GMCA has wanted to support. In fact the early plans for the Field of Dreams included a community garden. Well, now in the fall of 2016, the time has come for this idea.
GMCA has organized interested parties. We submitted a proposal to the city last year for funding. That proposal was beaten by a competing proposal in another neighborhood. We've sharpened our effort. Below is a draft proposal the Denver Urban Garden has developed for our site behind Foothills Elementary.
Here's were it fits next to the playground. Match the curves...
