Green Mountain Estates Entrance Signs
We've come a long way since we started this project - entrance signs.
GMCA has had active projects for our entrance signs since the north sign project starting in 2001. In 2006 the south sign was built with an investment of $8,000, $2,000 of which was funded from special donations made by our neighbors. Our activities continues to this day in maintaining and improving the appearance of the entrance signs at the north and south ends of Alkire, the major entrances to the Green Mountain Estates residential area. This activity is one of many examples of your association using contributions and volunteer efforts to make a difference in the spirit of our neighborhood, and yes, even property values.
September 13, 2013 - A Message from the GMCA President
You may all be aware that the Entrance Sign Project has been an ongoing undertaking by the Association. This year we have expanded the sign areas and refreshed the plantings. I hope you all agree the results are gratifying.
I'd like to take this opportunity to once again to thank all of those involved in this success. We would like to thank Mr. & Mrs. Nguyen, who have agreed to let us use their water to put in a drip system for the north entrance at Cedar & Alkire. Guaranteed Excellence Landscaping installed the drip system, pruned trees, cleaned up weeds and unwanted plants, brought in new soil, added shredded cedar mulch, planted a new pinion pine, and added nineteen new plants.
The south entrance at Beech & Alkire has new shredded cedar mulch, new soil, and twenty-five new plants. We used the cobblestone rocks from the north sign to create a cobble river bed.
We still aspire to improve the greenbelt area next to the north entrance sign on Alkire with trees, plants and moss rocks. We hope to continue to enhance the both entrances of our neighborhood making them ever more appealing.
In the same spirit of providing for pleasing entrances to our neighborhood, we all need to maintain our homes and yard to keep Green Mountain Estates a great place to live! We recognize our neighbor's efforts through the Landscape Judging activity; and very importantly we support our neighborhood's efforts through the GMCA-sponsored cleanup days held twice a year. The events are on a Saturday each spring and fall from 8-11am, at the Green Mountain United Methodist Church at 12756 W. Cedar Drive. Check the Website "Events (scheduled)" and watch for signs announcing each event.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. I hope you agree that Green Mountain Estates is a great place to live.
Sincerely,
Diane Rhodus
GMCA President
