GMCA is a totally volunteer organization. The volunteer board gets together seven or eight times a year to give context to the events and activities GMCA sponsors. Everyone is invited to the meetings. And it's not hard to become a board member.
But the board membership might not be your cup of tea. There are many ways that you can contribute to the neighborhood spirit.

Neighborhood "Green Mountian Estates" signs.
We're very proud of our neighborhood signs. We have invested substantially in creating them and we like to keep them looking great. A little weeding is always necessary. The biggest need is in the spring when the weeds first appear. Cleaning up then is really important. It takes from 3 or 4 person-hours in the spring so this volunteer opportunity is just right for a couple or a few neighbors to get together. (Click these photos for a large view.) |
Spring and Fall Cleanup
Every year in the spring and fall GMCA provides dumpsters down at the Green Mountain United Methodist Church to help the neighborhood get rid of winter and summer clutter. This is a great time to offer a hand in setting up traffic cones in the parking lot and unloading "stuff" into the dumpsters. It's also a great way to meet neighbors. |
