Snow Removal
Many of our neighbors would like their snow shoveled to comply with the city ordinance
"The owner, agent, lessee, tenant, or occupant of any property within the city shall remove all snow and ice as is reasonably possible from all public sidewalks and bikeways adjacent to their property no later than twenty-four hours following the last accretion of such snow or ice. (Ord. O-87-1 § 1 (part), 1987)."
City of Lakewood and Street Plowing Plan
As published in Dave Wiechman's January, 2015 newsletter:
"It's snow plowing season. During major snowstorms or blizzards, residents can report concerns about unplowed streets online through the winter storm page featured at Lakewood.org or by calling 303-987-7950. Because of the volume of calls during large snowstorms, the phone number only takes messages, and calls are not returned.
"The City requires sidewalks and business driveways to be cleared within 24 hours after the end of a storm. Sidewalks left unshoveled create icy conditions that are hazardous to pedestrians, children walking to school and those in wheelchairs. Residents with concerns about sidewalks that aren't shoveled after a storm can call 303-987-7975. Information and concerns also can be reported at Lakewood.org/RequestLakewood."

The city has a snow removal plan which is based on the prioritization of streets with the city. For our purposes, we have Alamada which is a "Ice Removal" priority, essentially meaning Top Priority. Then the yellow streets on the map shown here are priority 1, "Arterials and major collector streets"; and the purple streets designated priority 3 "Minor collector streets, school zones, hilly residential streets and shopping areas". The city does its best, but if you experience problems you feel are outside of your expectation, you can call the phone number above. Reference: http://lakewood.org/SnowPlan/ |
